The arrival of summer will bring significant closures to the Barcelona metro network, primarily affecting lines L1 and L9/L10 Nord with service interruptions for renovation works.

With the onset of summer, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has scheduled several maintenance operations on the metro network. This year, the most notable closures will impact lines L1 and L9/L10 Nord, with two main service interruptions planned.
Line L1 will experience the most significant closure, with service suspended between the Plaça de Sants and Florida stations from July 17th to August 28th. This disruption is due to a comprehensive renewal of the tracks between Mercat Nou and Santa Eulàlia. These works, with a budget of 11.5 million euros, are essential for one of the busiest lines on the network.
Furthermore, works at the Sagrera hub on lines 9 and 10 Nord will necessitate the closure of the section between the Sagrera and Onze de Setembre stops from June 25th to August 30th. Subsequently, from August 31st to September 6th, the interruption will extend to Bon Pastor. These tasks, carried out by the Department of Territory of the Generalitat, have a cost of 22.6 million euros.
Additionally, the Verdaguer station (L4) will close its main access for the renovation of its hall between July 6th and August 30th. Despite this, L4 trains will continue to run normally but will not stop there. The connection between lines 4 and 5 will be temporarily rerouted via Provença street while the new interchange is constructed, a project valued at 8.7 million euros.
Finally, the corridor connecting lines 1 and 3 at Catalunya station will remain closed for improvement works and asbestos removal from July 6th to September 7th. During this period, the connection between both lines will need to be made via the street. These works have an awarded budget of approximately 1.2 million euros.
TMB will provide a special bus service to cover the sections affected by the works on lines L1, L9, and L10 Nord, operating with the usual metro schedule.
