The Comtat de Cerdanya Library in Puigcerdà has enriched its collection with 300 new vinyl records, reinforcing its role in cultural dissemination and access to music in various formats.

This initiative is part of the project “78 RPM Foment de la Música a les Biblioteques” (Promoting Music in Libraries), driven by the Library Service of the Diputació de Girona. The aim is to promote musical heritage and encourage active listening among citizens.
The introduction of vinyl records responds to the clear resurgence of this format. In recent years, vinyl has regained prominence, attracting listeners with its sound quality, object value, and the experience of slow listening. Libraries are becoming key points for making this medium accessible to all users.
The new collection stands out for its variety of styles and artists, including classics of rock, jazz, pop, classical music, electronic, and contemporary genres, as well as Catalan and international artists. This diversity caters to a wide range of musical interests and invites discovery.
The vinyl records are now available for loan, allowing users to enjoy this sonic experience from home. The library is thus embracing new ways of engaging with music and offering an opportunity to rediscover it from a fresh perspective.
