The incident occurred at kilometer point 26.2 of the road, where the vehicle came to rest across the carriageway in the direction of Barcelona. Furthermore, its cargo spilled onto the road in the direction of Tarragona, making traffic impossible.

The Servei Català de Trànsit (Catalan Traffic Service) has reported that diversions are being implemented via side roads to alleviate the situation, but significant traffic jams are present in the affected area. Seven units of the Bombers (firefighters) have been mobilized to respond to the accident.
