The city of Girona celebrated the festival of Sant Antoni Abat on January 18, 2026, featuring the traditional Tres Tombs parade and the blessing of domestic animals.

The festive day, dedicated to the patron saint of animals, took place on Sunday, January 18, gathering numerous residents and participants with their pets. The Tres Tombs (Three Turns) celebration is one of the most anticipated events of the year in Girona, the capital of Gironès.
This ancient tradition recalls the old guilds of muleteers and farmers, who circled the church three times with their horses and carts to receive a blessing. The event remains alive as a tribute to rural culture and the importance of animals in daily life.
Today, the parade includes all kinds of animals, from traditional horses and ponies, to dogs, cats, birds, and other exotic pets, all waiting to receive the blessing. The event saw a great success in terms of public participation.
The images captured by photographer David Aparicio showcase the festive atmosphere and high public turnout, highlighting the variety of animals that participated in the religious ceremony and the subsequent parade through the central streets of the city.
