The Department of Education proposes expanding profiled teaching positions, but the USTEC union warns that this measure generates significant distortion in the order of job allocation.

The Department of Education and Vocational Training aims to increase the number of profiled positions, which require teachers to have specific accredited training in areas such as foreign language, digital competence, or diversity attention. This expansion will be carried out in accordance with the educational projects of each center and will have the advice of the Education Inspection.

"It generates distortion in the order of preference because if a center requests a position with a specialty linked to a profile, the person who is further back in the job pool but has this profile will move to the front."

The USTEC union, through its spokesperson in the Girona regions, Glòria Polls, regrets that this dynamic does not comply with the order of seniority or position in the substitution pool, affecting both interim and permanent staff. Polls emphasizes that the Department should guarantee the allocation of positions to the most senior personnel.
Furthermore, USTEC criticizes the “degradation” of the system for obtaining these profiles. According to the union, the required training is “too simple,” often limited to a 30-hour course in a private company that, for 90 euros, accredits the profile without guaranteeing the adequate training the teacher needs for the job.
The Education resolution proposal also includes other novelties, such as the expansion of job positions that can be covered through interviews, especially those linked to the inclusive school model, such as intensive support or CEEPSIR positions. Likewise, the publication of the list of susceptible positions will be brought forward from early June to late April.
