Civil Protection volunteer associations are non-profit entities formed by volunteers who contribute to the safety of municipalities and collaborate with emergency services.

To become a Civil Protection volunteer, one must be of legal age, reside in Catalonia, be part of a Civil Protection volunteer association, complete the basic Civil Protection volunteer course taught by the Institut de Seguretat Pública de Catalunya, and receive the appointment from the corresponding municipality's mayor.
