The Amposta City Council, through its Education and Culture departments, has presented the new Reading Promotion Plan 2025-2028, a four-year strategy designed to boost reading habits among all citizens.

The First Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Education, Núria Marco, explained that the plan allowed for a diagnosis of the reading situation in the municipality. She highlighted the transversal nature of the document, which involved educators, school librarians, municipal technicians, booksellers, and writers in its drafting.

"One of the most outstanding aspects of the document is its transversal nature, both in its preparation and implementation."

The Councillor for Culture, Inés Martí, detailed that the plan spans four years and includes a timeline and budget for the planned actions. It continues many existing activities, especially those carried out by the Sebastià Juan Arbó Regional Library, considered a key resource in this area.
The plan is structured around four main axes: cultural, educational, social, and health. The educational axis will reinforce actions aimed at young people, identified as a key target group. Crucially, the health axis includes the implementation of reading prescriptions at the municipality's Primary Care Centers (CAPs).
To ensure proper deployment and evaluation, the Municipal Reading Council will be established. This technical and participatory body will integrate key stakeholders and oversee the plan's implementation until 2028.
