The La Ràpita City Council will propose the initial approval of the modification to the Municipal Urban Planning Plan (POUM) at the June plenary session. The objective is to facilitate the completion of buildings that were left unfinished or abandoned following the real estate crisis between 2004 and 2014.
As explained by Mayor Xavi Reverté, this measure will allow these properties, exceptionally and with justification, to partially adapt to current urban planning, habitability, and accessibility regulations. "It is a very important measure to recover spaces that were stalled for years and give them a new opportunity, always with guarantees and technical criteria," the mayor emphasized.
The council will also definitively approve the technical project for the renovation of the drinking water supply and sewage network for the so-called Pepo apartments, located between Codonyol Avenue and Valencia, Ulldecona, and Vinaròs streets. The project includes replacing current pipes and creating new branches to improve service and network management, with a total budget of 219,521.20 euros.
The mayor stated, "This is a necessary action, long demanded by residents, and we can finally respond to a historical problem and improve an essential service."
Another item on the agenda will be the approval of local holidays for the year 2027. These will be September 8th, the day of the Mare de Déu de la Ràpita, and October 11th, which replaces the Sant Jaume holiday on July 25th, as the latter falls on a Sunday.
The Councilor for Festivals, Helena Queral, explained, "These are two dates that maintain tradition and adapt to the working calendar to facilitate citizen participation. Furthermore, October 11th was chosen because it is the Monday after Orígens."
Finally, the plenary will also address the appointment of Emilio Pascual Cortés, who will continue to serve as justice of the peace after being selected in the open selection process. "We are talking about a person very connected to the municipality, with a career and experience, who brings continuity and proximity to this service," the mayor highlighted.
Lastly, during the presentation of the plenary items, the mayor reviewed the Sant Joan festivities, which he described as a "resounding success," particularly highlighting the good coordination and safety throughout the events, with an approximate attendance of 5,000 people and "zero incidents."
