The initiative, funded by the Natural Heritage Fund and developed with the association Joventut i Vida, is part of the project “Management and improvement of the biological integrity of protected river areas in the north of the Terres de l’Ebre”. This focus on environmental service-learning aims to be a tool for inclusion, personal growth, and commitment to the environment.
“"We want to offer adolescents a space where they can demonstrate that they are capable of making positive contributions to the territory and the community."
Throughout the courses, the young people have carried out various environmental actions, such as planting riparian and aromatic species, removing exotic species, building nest boxes for birds, or participating in bioblitzes, which are citizen science days aimed at inventorying biodiversity.
Beyond conservation, the project strengthens the self-esteem and confidence of the UEC students. The outcome of the initiative is very positive, and both the Grup de Natura Freixe and the UEC of Móra la Nova have expressed their willingness to continue the project in the coming courses, provided it remains beneficial for both parties.
