The Gombrèn town council has completed the technical part of the second phase of the energy community, which includes expanding the panel network and its power. However, users, some of whom have been part of the project for almost two years, have not yet been able to enjoy the benefits due to the complexity of administrative procedures.
“"We have just signed the permits to legalize the power point that must supply the community. We are only dealing with paperwork; technically, we have already done everything."
The mayor, Cèsar Ollé, highlighted that the initial demand for the energy community was very positive, which prompted the second phase. However, bureaucratic slowness has created a paradoxical situation where, until the system is operational, the effect is the opposite of what was desired. Ollé is confident that once the real savings are demonstrated, demand will grow again.
The project also includes the installation of accumulators to utilize daytime solar energy during the night or on sunless days. This implementation, however, is also pending. The recent signing of permits to legalize the consumption point is interpreted as a crucial step, suggesting the project is nearing its final administrative stage. The council is considering compensating affected users with more power during the initial months once the community is fully operational.
