The Iesso Run Club in Guissona, founded a year ago by Mario Georgiev and Laura Alemany, has successfully brought together over a hundred running enthusiasts, fostering socialization and physical exercise within the community.

This initiative emerged with the aim of providing a meeting point for individuals who previously ran alone. Since its inception, the club has grown significantly, becoming an open space for runners of all levels, without membership fees or formal structures.

"We found that there were people who went running alone, and we thought it would be good to unite them in a group to meet up and go for runs together."

Mario Georgiev · Co-founder of Iesso Run Club
Currently, the group has over a hundred members in its WhatsApp and Strava groups, although regular training sessions typically gather around thirty participants. Meetings are organized through these channels, adapting the pace and distance to the attendees' needs, from gentle sessions for beginners to more demanding workouts, with routes usually covering about 10 kilometers.
The club welcomes runners of all ages, such as Joan Esteve, 67 years old, who found a new way to enjoy his hobby at the Iesso Run Club after years of running solo. His experience reflects the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere within the group.

"When I first came, I didn't know anyone, but I felt very welcomed by everyone."

Joan Esteve · Member of Iesso Run Club
The club's growth is part of the running boom in the La Segarra region, fueled by events like the Backyard Ultra de Guissona, an ultramarathon that has gained popularity. The third edition of this event will begin this Saturday at the sports complex, with Iesso Run Club members intensely preparing on the same circuit.
