This training on common surgical procedures, essential in both emergency care and primary care centers, is taught by registered nurses Gemma Amat and Álvaro Vilela. The instructors focused specifically on conveying the proper treatment of wounds to promote optimal healing.
The workshop is structured into six modules covering basic issues, from the introduction to minor surgery and skin preparation, to the necessary materials for the technique. Anesthesia, different suturing techniques, asepsis measures, and subsequent care, including how and when to remove sutures, are also addressed.
Good training for nurses in these cases is very important to obtain quality clinical and aesthetic results for wounds that can be closed by primary intention.
The main objective of the training is to provide knowledge and skills so that nurses can safely manage wound suturing. This directly improves the quality of care and patient safety, especially in the outpatient treatment of drains and lines.
The training is conducted in two shifts, morning and afternoon, and is the first workshop of this nature that the COILL is offering during 2026.
