A survey conducted among 524 members of management teams in primary schools across Catalunya, led by the Universitat de Lleida (UdL), highlights that the structural and attitudinal factors of professionals are the most relevant. The study minimizes the determining role of families' sociocultural and economic factors.
“"The educational level, socioeconomic level, and geographical origin, which one might think are relevant, are less so than other factors."
Although scientific literature has traditionally associated cultural capital and socioeconomic status with greater involvement, Jordi Garreta, professor at the UdL and co-author of the study, questions this linear relationship. Researchers emphasize the importance of promoting inclusive school policies and teaching strategies aimed at strengthening trust and co-responsibility in children's education.
“"Normative frameworks are not enough; it is necessary to open doors to advance inclusion, democratization, and the improvement of the educational system."
This research is part of the state project Participació i implicació familiar en els centres de educació Primària, funded by the Ministry of Science and concluded in 2025. The project, led by the UdL, included researchers from La Rioja, Cantabria, and the Balearic Islands.
