Six teachers from the Joan Solà Institute in Torrefarrera have shared their experiences to explain the reasons behind the mobilization. Their demands focus on reducing classroom ratios, increasing resources, and cutting bureaucracy in Catalonia.
“"Salaries have only increased in proportion to the CPI, which does not compensate for the real increase in the cost of living."
Meanwhile, Arnau Raluy warns that schools are reaching their limit. The lack of support staff makes managing classroom diversity impossible. According to the teacher, the system is only sustained by the professional burnout of the staff.
Frustration also stems from institutional pressure to avoid students repeating grades. Dolors Seuma and Àngel Guillem denounce that students are promoted without meeting minimum academic standards, leading to a sense of institutional deauthorization.
“"We feel alone facing complex classrooms and constant demands to handle students' social and emotional issues."
Finally, Susanna Amorós emphasizes that mobilization is the only way to achieve change, noting that failing to act is equivalent to accepting the degradation of labor conditions in Torrefarrera.
