Espai BATEC in Lleida will host the second session of the Afany Cycle this Friday, February 6, focusing on critical reflection on popular education and pedagogical experiences of the 20th century.

The free entry meeting is titled “Educació i memòria: l'Escola Nova i l'Escola dels Ferroviaris” and is part of the celebration of the 5th anniversary of the Escola Popular de Balàfia project.
The talk will analyze two fundamental initiatives for the educational history of the city of Lleida: the pedagogical renewal movement linked to the Escola Nova and the creation of the Escola dels Ferroviaris, directly promoted by the local labor movement.

The Afany Cycle seeks to recover and value these collective experiences, establishing a dialogue between past and present and connecting historical memory with current struggles.

The authors of the articles published in the magazine Afany will present the historical context, pedagogical ideas, and social impact of these projects, highlighting their relevance as references for critical education rooted in the territory.
This second session of the Afany Cycle, scheduled for 6 p.m., follows the success of the first meeting, focused on the neighborhood struggle for the burial of the tracks in Balàfia, confirming public interest in spaces for collective memory and critical debate.
