The Lloret de Mar City Council has incorporated the Mapadeball project, allowing approximately 150 students from INS Rocagrossa and Institut Escola de Fenals to create a professional choreography.

The participation of Lloret de Mar in Mapadeball is a milestone, as it brings professional dance to secondary classrooms. Students from both centers will receive specific training to prepare the piece UMHLABA, which choreographers Sílvia Sant Funk and Mònica Muntaner demonstrated during the presentation. The final performance will take place at the Teatre de Lloret on April 29, coinciding with International Dance Day.

"This project contributes to improving the self-esteem of young people and reinforces the local cultural fabric, demonstrating that dance is a powerful educational tool."

Carlos Costa · Councilor for Education
Rehearsals will be led by local dancer and choreographer Cristina Catalán, with the support of institute teachers. According to Catalán, the project is key for students to discover contemporary dance, work on sensory and collective aspects, and gain confidence in their own bodies through movement.
Mapadeball, which originated in 2010 from Barcelona Tot Dansa, is currently part of the II Dance Promotion Plan of the Department of Culture. This edition involves significant participation across Catalonia, totaling 46 institutes, 2,800 students, and over 1,160 hours of dance in classrooms, aiming to foster inclusion and cooperation.
