The tourism sector in the Tarragona region has concluded Easter Week with high satisfaction, recording occupancy rates close to 90% during the holiday weekend, thanks to good weather and various sports events.

Forecasts for Easter Week have been successfully met in the Tarragona region, where the tourism sector achieved occupancy rates of around 90% during the weekend. This distribution was notably homogeneous across the territory, favored by good weather conditions and the celebration of various sports championships, especially on the coast, which attracted nearly 45,000 participants.
Xavier Guardià, spokesperson for the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism Businesses of Tarragona (FEHT), highlighted the early start of flight operations by British tour operators at Reus Airport, an unusual occurrence for this time of year. This circumstance contributed to the arrival of international visitors.

"Easter Week is always a sure bet. Many people travel, everyone looks for getaways, and we are a priority destination."

The main source markets were the usual ones for this period, with a strong presence of Catalan tourists and visitors from the rest of Spain, particularly from the Basque Country, La Rioja, Aragon, Madrid, and the Valencian Community. Regarding international travelers, the French were the most numerous, followed by the British and Irish, benefiting from the early opening of Reus Airport.
Guardià also emphasized that the Easter Week season extends beyond the holiday Monday, due to the different school calendars in various autonomous communities. While Catalan schools resume classes, other regions like the Basque Country, Madrid, Aragon, or Valencia are just beginning their holidays, allowing the tourism sector to extend the season for an additional fifteen days, albeit with a more dispersed volume of visitors across the Costa Daurada, the Terres de l'Ebre, and inland regions.
Finally, the FEHT spokesperson noted a significant increase in last-minute bookings. This trend is attributed to factors such as the economic situation, uncertainty generated by the conflict in Iran, and potential weather variability.
