The Tarragona City Council reported a significant 41% increase in monument visitors during 2025, reaching a total of 761,000 people across the city's historical sites.

According to Heritage Councilor Nacho García Latorre, the Roman Circus and the Amphitheatre were the main attractions. The surge is linked to the 25th anniversary of Tarraco as a UNESCO World Heritage site and the success of the Tàrraco Viva festival, which drew massive crowds during April and May.

"2026 will be the year of the Amphitheatre, as the master plan will be completed and conservation works will begin."

The city invested over 5 million euros in heritage last year, including major works at the Colony Forum. Although archaeological requirements have slightly delayed some projects until summer 2026, officials confirmed that Next Generation EU funding remains secure.
