Civil Protection activated the Inuncat Plan alert phase across Catalonia this weekend due to intense and persistent rain, urging citizens to exercise maximum caution.

The activation of the Special Emergency Plan for Floods in Catalonia (Inuncat) aims primarily to monitor the meteorological episode and coordinate the response of emergency services. Citizens are urged to exercise extreme caution, especially when traveling and in areas close to rivers, streams, and ravines.

Meteorological models forecast significant rain accumulations, especially in areas where the intensity and persistence of precipitation may cause sudden rises in rivers, streams, and ravines.

The Meteorological Service of Catalonia warns that precipitation could exceed 100 liters per square meter within a 24-hour period in the regions of the Pyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenees, and the Camp de Tarragona. The most intense episodes are expected in the southern half and along the Catalan coast.
In addition to the rain, high waves are expected in the Alt Empordà, with waves potentially exceeding 2.5 meters. The avalanche danger is marked at altitudes above 2,200 meters. The Catalan Traffic Service reminds drivers to check road conditions, as some, such as the C-28 at the Bonaigua pass and the BV-4031 at the Creueta pass, require snow chains.
