The contract, awarded last November 2025, has a duration of two years and a total amount of 1,421,378.19 euros (VAT included), covering the immobilization, removal, and transfer of vehicles to the municipal depot.
The new agreement ensures that the city will have one tow truck operational 24 hours a day, supplemented by a second support unit active during peak demand hours, from Monday to Saturday.
A key improvement is the reduction of the physical presence of Guàrdia Urbana agents, as tow trucks will follow a predetermined route and can autonomously detect infractions. Vehicle removal will be validated remotely from the police station.
“"It is a very important service for the proper functioning of urban mobility."
The Chief Superintendent of the Tarragona Guàrdia Urbana, Manuel Vázquez, highlighted that the service is reinforced with an additional vehicle to ensure road safety and prevent accidents, often linked to poorly parked vehicles.
Vázquez also noted that special emphasis will be placed on improper parking in loading and unloading zones, taxi stands, and spaces reserved for people with disabilities or reduced mobility.
