The province of Tarragona registered nearly 90% hotel occupancy during the past Easter Week, with an equitable distribution of visitors throughout the territory, driven by good weather and sports events.

The tourism sector in the province of Tarragona has expressed satisfaction with the results obtained during the Easter Week weekend, with occupancy figures approaching 90%. This high influx of visitors was evenly distributed throughout the province, favored by good weather conditions and the celebration of various sports championships, mainly on the coast, which attracted around 45,000 registrations.
Xavier Guardià, spokesperson for the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism Businesses of Tarragona (FEHT), highlighted as a novelty the early start of flights by some British tour operators to Reus Airport, an unusual occurrence. This circumstance contributed to the arrival of international tourists, adding to the traditional markets.

"Easter Week is always a sure bet. Many people look for getaways, and Tarragona is a priority destination."

The main source markets were the usual ones for these dates, with a clear predominance of Catalan and national tourism, especially from the Basque Country, La Rioja, Aragon, Madrid, and the Valencian Community. Among international travelers, the French were the majority, followed by the British and Irish, benefiting from the early opening of Reus Airport.
Guardià also noted that the Easter Week season extends beyond the holiday Monday, due to differences in school calendars in other autonomous communities. This allows the sector to prolong tourist activity for up to fifteen days, albeit with a lower volume of visitors than during the main weekend and well distributed between the Costa Daurada, the Terres de l’Ebre, and the inland regions. Finally, the FEHT spokesperson mentioned that many last-minute bookings were registered, attributed to economic factors, uncertainty due to the war in Iran, or potential climate variability.
