The Federation of Parents' Associations of Catalonia (aFFaC) has reported the unjustified closure of eleven public school lines for I3 and ESO students across the Vallès Occidental region.

The measure affects several municipalities, including Terrassa, Sabadell, and Sant Cugat. The federation argues that the Department of Education is dismantling the public network while maintaining funding for private subsidized schools, despite a decrease in the birth rate.

"When public groups are closed and unnecessary subsidies are maintained, an offer that does not respond to the general interest is being prioritized."

Protests have erupted in cities like Rubí and Terrassa, where families demand a fair educational planning. They call for the 2026/27 school year subsidies to be reviewed based on real needs, prioritizing public education over private alternatives.
