Josep Durán Noguera, a renowned swimmer and former director of Club Natació Sabadell, has passed away at the age of 74. Durán was an Olympic finalist at the 1968 Mexico Games and achieved multiple national and international successes.

Spanish swimming mourns the loss of Josep Durán Noguera, who excelled as a swimmer during the 1960s. His greatest sporting achievement came at the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games, where he reached the final of the 4 x 100 medley relay.
A year before his Olympic participation, Durán won the gold medal in the 200m breaststroke and two silver medals (100m breaststroke and 4 x 100 medley relay) at the Mediterranean Games in Tunis. He also competed in the 1970 European Championships in Barcelona, finishing 14th in the 100m breaststroke.
Throughout his career, Durán set eight Spanish records in various disciplines and distances, and was the Spanish champion on eleven occasions.
Beyond his athletic career, Josep Durán also played a significant role within the Club Natació Sabadell, serving as president of the Swimming Commission between 1998 and 2000. In December 2025, he participated in a tribute event at Can Llong dedicated to Kees Oudegeest's generation.
