Maintenance works at the Rubí tunnel, scheduled to last seven weeks, will cause a drastic increase in freight travel times between Portbou and the Port of Barcelona.

According to an Adif document, the closure of this key infrastructure in Vallès Occidental will force Iberian-gauge trains coming from France to take significantly longer routes.
Travel times will jump from 2 hours and 42 minutes to nearly seven hours. Trains must detour through Lleida and Sant Vicenç de Calders, increasing the total distance from 192 kilometers to 521 kilometers.
