Government spokesperson, Eloi Cortés, detailed that the procedure is an open tender with an estimated contract price of 4.5 million euros. This public-private partnership formula means the successful bidder will undertake construction and operate the property for 75 years, after which ownership will revert to the council.
To attract corporate interest after the initial tender was declared void, the price has been lowered by half a million euros. Cortés pointed out that the plot is registered with the Generalitat de Catalunya for promoting social housing, allowing the project to qualify for planned subsidies.
“"We are talking about an investment of around 26 million euros, and we need to have the money secured before moving forward with a project of this magnitude."
The plot, located in the La Roureda sector, has an area of 6,638 square meters designated for housing and 2,552 square meters for commercial use. The allocation of the homes will be managed through the Official Protected Housing Applicants Registry of Catalonia, handled locally in Sabadell by the Vimusa Local Housing Office.
This project is part of the La Roureda development, which also includes a pending residential complex for the elderly. The spokesperson recalled that initial urbanization works in the area are already underway, but the senior complex, requiring a 26 million euro investment, awaits approval from the Institut Català de Finances (ICF) and the Generalitat.
