The old Sallarès Deu textile factory in Sabadell, located in the Gràcia neighborhood, is being converted to house the new Restaurant School, which will gradually begin its activities from June.

This project, presented by Sabadell's mayor, represents the first phase of reopening the factory complex. The building's rehabilitation and the school's new facilities have been showcased to municipal groups, neighborhood associations, economic agents, and the media.
The Sallarès Deu factory complex, a protected work from 1920 by architect Lluís Muncunill, was acquired by the city council in 2018 for 4.55 million euros. The additional investment for its rehabilitation and adaptation has amounted to 6.6 million euros, of which 2.8 million come from EDUSI European funds.

"We want to be a benchmark in Southern Europe for gastronomic training."

The school's state-of-the-art facilities are designed to complement the municipal training program at Vapor Llonch, which includes professional, occupational, specialization courses, and international programs. The city council is also seeking collaboration from private initiative, with plans to tender the space before the end of the year to maximize its potential.
The Restaurant School occupies a warehouse of over 2,300 square meters, with direct access from Cellers street. It features five adaptable training classrooms and a professional kitchen of nearly 200 square meters, equipped with 32 individual workstations, hot and cold zones, and a storage area with freezing and preservation chambers. In the basement, there is a main hall for 80 people, a tasting and sommelier workshop, a catering and pastry kitchen, and spaces for workshops.
The location of Sallarès Deu is considered strategic due to its excellent road and rail connections. Furthermore, there are plans to transform the block opposite the building into a square with three apartment blocks, aiming to improve access and urban integration.
