The Terrassa City Council approved on Friday the creation of the Municipal Observatory for Educational Equity, a new tool designed to analyze local schools and ensure equal opportunities for all students.

Proposed by the CCOO union, the observatory will focus on how social and economic backgrounds affect academic success. It aims to provide data-driven strategies to support schools facing high complexity and to coordinate efforts with NGOs like Caritas and the Red Cross.

"Educational complexity has grown, and social inequalities have a direct impact on academic careers."

While most political parties supported the move, PP and Vox abstained from the formal creation of the body, citing concerns over the duplication of existing administrative committees. The local government will now finalize the regulations for the new institution.
