The Terrassa City Council defended its school canteen supervision system in Terrassa this February, following controversy over insufficient food portions in some local schools.

Local authorities highlighted that since May 2025, a dedicated technician has been hired specifically to audit the quality and quantity of the service. This professional conducts weekly unannounced visits to all educational centers in the city to ensure the catering company complies with its contract.

"We are the government that has done the most for school canteens and we are monitoring them like never before."

Patricia Reche · City Councilor for Education
Councilor Patricia Reche acknowledged the concern caused by recently published images of school meals, though she clarified these were isolated incidents. The municipal government maintains direct coordination with school boards to prevent further issues regarding children's nutrition.
