The city of Sabadell closed the month of April with a significant decrease in unemployment, with 208 fewer people registered as job seekers, setting the rate at 9.75%.

This reduction, the most significant since last November, leaves the total number of unemployed at 10,526. The current figure approaches the historic low recorded since the economic recession of the late 2000s, specifically the 10,512 unemployed individuals in May 2025, only 14 fewer than now.
The positive trend is not limited to Sabadell. The Vallès Occidental region also experienced a good month, with a drop of 969 unemployed, closing April with 40,630 job seekers and a rate of 8.65%. This dynamic is partly explained by the traditional improvement in employment during spring.
At the Catalonia level, the data is equally encouraging. The community surpassed its historical record for active workers in April, reaching 3,921,134 affiliates to the Social Security. This figure represents an increase of 38,360 people compared to March and uninterrupted year-on-year growth since April 2021. It is the third time that affiliations have exceeded the threshold of 3.9 million workers.
During the month of April, which coincided with Easter Week, unemployment in Catalonia decreased by 8,949 people, a 2.77% reduction, the most intense variation for this month since 2019, leaving the total at 314,527 unemployed. All Catalan provinces recorded decreases, with Tarragona (-3.82%) and Girona (-3.78%) leading the recovery, likely influenced by the weight of tourism. Lleida saw a drop of 2.62% and Barcelona of 2.50%.
