The Observatory-Centre for Studies of the Consell Comarcal has released preliminary data showing a 0.69% monthly increase in unemployment in Vallès Oriental, reaching a total of 17,835 unemployed people.
This rise follows an upward trend since June, with the exception of September. It also contrasts with previous years, as unemployment had consistently decreased month-on-month between September and October from 2023 to 2025. The comparison with October 2025 shows a worsening situation, with 221 more people unemployed, a year-on-year increase of 1.25%.
This year's increase is higher than in recent years. The provisional unemployment rate stands at 8.00%, up from 7.83% in September. In contrast, social security affiliation data for September showed positive performance, with over 3,000 additional affiliations in the region.
Unemployment has risen in most municipalities: 24 registered an increase, 13 a decrease, and Fogars de Montclús remained stable. Notable decreases were seen in Sant Feliu de Codines (-11 people), Lliçà d'Amunt (-10), and Cardedeu (-10).
The year-on-year increase is also widespread, with only 13 municipalities having fewer unemployed people than a year ago. 26 out of the 38 municipalities show a higher volume of unemployment compared to the previous year.
In Catalonia, unemployment rose by 2.5% in October compared to September, with 8,174 more people, reaching a total of 338,246 registered unemployed. Year-on-year unemployment in Catalonia has grown for the third consecutive month, by 4.2%. In Spain as a whole, however, unemployment continues to decrease, albeit at a moderating pace of -0.9%.
