The youth facility El Gra in Granollers inaugurated an exhibition on Monday that offers a unique perspective on the capital of Vallès Oriental, as seen from nearby municipalities.

The exhibition, titled El poble del costat (The Neighboring Town), is the result of a research project carried out by the artistic collective Cadira Coixa. This collective is formed by illustrator Gemma Aymerich, a resident of les Franqueses, and photographer Aina Altimira, from Montmeló. The exhibition is part of the municipal program Exposa't, which aims to support young and emerging artists.

"We present a series of reflections on the unequal dynamics generated by centralism. The City Council commissioned us a work about Granollers. We do not live in the city, and therefore we ended up talking about it from the discomfort of those who live in neighboring towns."

The creators explained that, despite not residing in Granollers, they regularly visit for studies, work, leisure, and participation in social movements. This experience has allowed them to question what the regional capital offers its inhabitants and why, at times, they do not feel fully identified with it.
The exhibition includes several photographs of downtown Granollers and seven chairs, some of which are designed to be unstable. The functional chairs invite visitors to sit and read a booklet with first-person accounts that address the experience of traveling to a capital when one comes from another place.
