The cafe Brunchniky by Clos, located at 109 Roger de Flor street in Granollers, has started the 'Comerços aprenents' program so its owner, Estefany, can serve customers in Catalan.

Estefany, born in Colombia and a resident of Catalonia, recently opened a cafe in Granollers with her husband, specializing in brunch-style breakfasts. Despite having Catalan-speaking customers and family, limited practice opportunities motivated her to join the training to improve customer service.
After several sessions, Estefany can now greet customers, take orders, and state prices and ingredients in Catalan. The establishment, which now displays the program's badge and diploma, joins five other shops in the Sota el Camí Ral neighborhood that have already completed the training.
The 'Comerços aprenents' project, promoted by the CNL del Vallès Oriental, offers essential Catalan language training to local businesses. Linguistic normalization technicians visit the shops to provide 15-minute sessions, tailored to the communication needs of employees with limited Catalan exposure due to their work schedules.
Since 2021, the program has been implemented in various Catalan towns. Granollers was one of the pioneering cities to pilot this initiative, as part of the Pla Ofercat to promote the use of Catalan in commerce.
