The Vilanova del Vallès City Council today coordinated with Civil Protection and the Department of the Interior to secure the necessary resources to address the damage caused by recent heavy rainfall.

Several meetings and on-site inspections have been conducted to assess structural damage to urban roads and critical points within the municipality. Representatives from the CECAT (Catalan Emergency Operations Centre) visited the area to gain firsthand knowledge of the situation and existing needs.
Tomorrow, volunteers from various municipalities are expected to arrive to support ongoing work. Today's efforts already benefited from the collaboration of volunteers from Sant Boi, along with personnel from Civil Protection, the Local Police, municipal technicians, and the Municipal Brigade.
A regional coordination meeting in Granollers, convened by the Head of Territorial Emergencies for Civil Protection, Eduard Martínez, allowed municipal representatives to present a list of detected damages. An inspection was also carried out by the Catalan Water Agency (ACA).
The Director of Territorial Services for the Department of the Interior, Albert Vilatersana, has offered the department's collaboration to coordinate the necessary resources.
Regarding the electricity supply, ENDESA has been working to resolve incidents affecting 167 families. Despite efforts, the fault is not yet fully resolved, and temporary generators are being installed.
The CECAT has confirmed the dispatch of additional containers to enhance waste management and has requested an inspection by a civil engineer to assess damage to roads and infrastructure.
Municipal teams continue to work on signage, localized repairs, and debris removal in the most affected areas, prioritizing safety and mobility. Damage has been identified on roads, pavements, retaining walls, and service infrastructure, particularly in the neighborhoods of Ca l’Alegre, Can Bosc, Rodes, El Xargall, Can Nadal, and Les Roquetes.
The area around the Céllecs stream is one of the most severely affected, with a overflow on Farigola street impacting homes and the wastewater pumping station (EBAR). A blockage in the stream between Les Roquetes and Bosc Ruscalleda has also been detected.
Mobility is hampered by sinkholes on several streets in the Rodes neighborhood. The City Council has implemented preventive measures and is carrying out repairs where possible, although the list of incidents remains provisional.
Given the forecast of further heavy rain, municipal services are maintaining vigilance over vulnerable points and prioritizing actions in areas of greatest risk. The City Council expresses gratitude for the involvement of Civil Protection, CECAT, ACA, the Department of the Interior, and the volunteers.
