The Esport Blanc Escolar (EBE) program has kicked off its 13th edition, which will run until the end of March. It involves 2,700 students from 3rd and 4th grade of Primary Education from 64 schools across the counties of Alt Urgell, Alta Ribagorça, Berguedà, Cerdanya, Pallars Jussà, Pallars Sobirà, Ripollès, Solsonès, and Val d'Aran.
This initiative, jointly promoted by the departments of Sports and Education and Vocational Training, aims to promote the initiation and knowledge of winter sports among children in the Pyrenean areas. Since the program's inception in 2014, approximately 12,000 children will have been introduced to these practices.
Participating students will learn to practice alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowboarding. By territorial division, the Alt Pirineu i Aran contributes 875 students, while Central Catalonia has 1,034 and Girona, 727, demonstrating the project's broad geographical reach.
The EBE is integrated into the physical education curriculum and takes place during school hours. It consists of between six and eight sessions during the second term of the school year, divided into cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, and snowboarding sessions for each grade.
As a closing event for 4th grade Primary students, the Snow Graduation ceremonies will be organized again during March, festive gatherings that mark the end of their participation in the program.
