The La Seu d'Urgell City Council inaugurated this January the new computerized classroom at CETAP to conduct theoretical driving license exams, preventing travel for residents of the Pyrenees.

Following the signing of the agreement last December between the Mayor of La Seu d'Urgell, Joan Barrera, and the Provincial Traffic Head of Lleida, Mª José Soler, the facilities at the Centre Empresarial i Tecnològic del Pirineu (CETAP) have already hosted the first official tests. These exams were conducted under the new digital system required by the European Union, with three shifts of 25 places each.

"With this installation, the willingness to bring services closer to the citizens is reaffirmed, and collaboration with the DGT is maintained to avoid displacements outside the Pyrenees."

The space enabled in the Les Monges building not only covers the municipality's residents but is consolidated as a reference center for the entire Alt Urgell region, Cerdanya, and part of Solsonès. To enable this transition from paper to digital format, the City Council made a total investment of 22,000 euros, allocated to classroom adaptation and the purchase of necessary touch screens.
As stipulated in the agreement, theoretical tests will be held at this authorized center at least once a month. The new system allows for the incorporation of risk perception videos, a technical requirement that made the computerization of the classroom essential, responding to a demand from the driving schools association.
