The director of the la Seu d'Urgell Music School, Sònia Lanau, was appointed as the new president of the Catalan Association of Music Schools (ACEM) in March 2026.

The election took place during the General Assembly held on March 6, featuring representatives from 30 associated schools. Sònia Lanau, who also serves as deputy director of the Pyrenees Music Conservatory, previously held the position of secretary within the board.
Lanau succeeds Carles Farràs, who led the organization for the past 12 years. The assembly honored the outgoing members and discussed the strategic goals and budget for 2026, highlighting the success of the RITMIKS Festival.
The newly formed board includes directors from L'Hospitalet, Barcelona, and Tarragona, aiming to strengthen the network of music education centers across the region.
