The Plenary of the Artés City Council has approved September 6th and 7th, 2027, as the two local holidays for next year, coinciding with the Festa Major. The renovation works for the Dr. Ferrer school have also been given the green light.

The ordinary Plenary of the Artés City Council, held last Thursday, July 16th, unanimously approved the proposal for local holidays for 2027. As decided by the citizens in the participatory process held this spring, the holidays will be Monday and Tuesday of the Festa Major, corresponding to September 6th and 7th, 2027. Tuesday of the Festa Major will be the second local holiday, a decision resulting from the participatory process where the date that had traditionally been a local holiday in Artés emerged as the winner.
During the session, an update was also given on the activation of the Municipal Action Plan (PAM) for Fire Risk in Emergency phase, following the fire declared on July 8th, and its deactivation on July 16th. The mayor, Enric Forcada, thanked all the security forces and individuals who intervened in the fire, including the ADF, emergency and security forces, local police of Artés and Santpedor, Civil Protection, and collaborators.
In economic matters, the General Account for the year 2025 was unanimously approved, and two credit modifications were reported to incorporate received subsidies and adjust budgetary items. Finally, the Plenary unanimously approved the change of date for the ordinary session in September, which will be held on September 24th instead of the 17th.
In the section for requests and questions, improvements to public spaces were discussed, such as the dog recreation area, the new roundabout for village access, cleaning of Barquera street, the condition of municipal drains and the Catalunya square park, and the definitive parking signage in Barcelona street. Information was also provided on the demolition of the warehouse in the Cal Sitges area, which is proceeding on schedule, and the need to reinforce the Local Police staff was debated, noting the incorporation of two new officers in the last four years.
Other issues addressed included the extension of the emergency social use assignment for Sareb flats, school transport grants, a call for collaborators, the youth engagement service at Kanal, and a specific incident at the municipal pool caused by a defective product for preventing algae, which has since been resolved.
In an extraordinary Plenary held on July 31st, the renovation, adaptation, and improvement works for the Dr. Ferrer school were unanimously approved. These works focus on the school's heating, air conditioning, and Domestic Hot Water (DHW) infrastructure. Actions include replacing the dining hall's air conditioning, adapting the boiler room, and improving the gymnasium's DHW facilities.
