The Civil Guard launched a major operation this Monday in Reus and Mataro against the illegal trade of lentiscus, a decorative plant highly valued in Central Europe.

Starting at 4:30 AM on February 17, officers conducted raids on homes and industrial warehouses. In Reus, a search in the Agro-Reus industrial estate uncovered a large cold storage room filled with the plant. Several people have been detained as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case is currently under judicial secrecy. Authorities are investigating crimes against the environment and potential money laundering linked to the illegal export of these botanical resources.
