A long-time member of the Reial Congregació de la Puríssima Sang de Reus has publicly appealed to the Archbishop, urging dialogue to reverse recent decisions affecting Holy Week events in the city of Reus.

The woman, who identifies herself as a mother, a widow of a sub-Calvary member, and chambermaid of the Sant Crist for 38 years, expressed deep respect for the institution but criticized the lack of diplomacy in the decisions taken. She emphasized that her family has been linked to the congregation for six decades.

I want to state that, with the last decision taken, not only has a small group of people been punished, but the entire town of Reus.

The author highlighted the importance of the Good Friday procession, which traditionally runs from the Plaça de la Sang to the Prioral de Sant Pere, and its return for the personal request of the “Three Graces of Reus.” This act, central to local devotion, is declared a National Heritage Festival of Catalonia.
As a practicing Catholic and mother, the congregation member pleaded with the Archbishop to reconsider, reminding him of his responsibility to care for his “religious children” and to avoid confrontation at a time when the number of believers in the Church is declining. She called for unity to move forward with Holy Week and ensure the well-being of the entire city.
