Commemorative plaque marking the Institut Gaudí in Reus joining the European Parliament Ambassador Schools program.
The Institut Gaudí in Reus unveiled a plaque on Wednesday, December 17, formalizing its membership in the European Parliament Ambassador Schools program, becoming the first center in the city to do so.
The official presentation was attended by Sandra Guaita, Mayor of Reus; Marta Domènech, head of the Europe Direct Tarragona office; and Albert Maruf, head of studies at the institute. The program aims to foster knowledge of Europe, its democratic values, and European parliamentary democracy among young people.
“
"This adherence reaffirms the importance of promoting among young people the knowledge of Europe, its democratic values, and the opportunities offered by European citizenship."
“
"We are proud to host this project for the next three years with the option of continuity. We believe it is interesting that the center not only transmits content but also values, and with the Ambassador Schools program, we can do this and work on issues like disinformation or critical thinking."
This commitment was made possible through the support of the Department of Economic Promotion, Innovation and Knowledge. Since last year, the Reus City Council has been part of the European Union Local Councillors (EULC) network, which promotes citizen debate on the European Union and facilitates collaborative projects like the Ambassador Schools.
“
"From the Reus City Council, we work to strengthen the link between the city and European institutions, and the adherence of the Institut Gaudí to the Ambassador Schools program is a good example."
Participating centers commit to attending mandatory training in Madrid, maintaining an updated InfoPoint about the European Parliament, using provided educational materials, and celebrating Europe Day on May 9. A key objective is motivating electoral participation in European elections.
