The renewal of the urban core of Reus is constant. In recent months, establishments such as Vivari, La Espiga Pan & Café, Golossa Cakery, DItaly, Midtown, Farinus, Va de Croissant, El Mestral, Burguitos, Compà Calabrese, Thaiger Thai, and Què Bo És have joined the local offer. This dynamism has ensured that the closure of brands like Farggi, Virginias, Dogos, or l’Absis has not left vacancies, as construction for new tenants begins quickly.
“"When a premises closes, it doesn't take long to reopen; there is a lot of demand."
The president of the Association of Hospitality Businesses (AEH) of Reus, Víctor Perales, confirms that the demand for commercial premises is constant and attributes this dynamism to the city's commercial character. According to Perales, “Reus has always been a very lively city, and that makes people from outside notice it to establish their business.”
Among the new additions, highly specific and specialized proposals stand out, such as La Espiga Pan & Café, which combines Colombian products with local habits, or Golossa Cakery, specializing in cheesecakes and cookies. Concepts of Italian cuisine, street food, and international gastronomy have also been added, expanding the variety.
Despite the surge in openings, Perales warns that the scenario is complex. Profit margins have been significantly reduced due to increased costs, rents, regulatory requirements, and a lack of qualified personnel. Therefore, the sector advocates for the need to support new entrepreneurs and promote viable projects.
