The intense snowfall left between 30 and 55 centimeters of new snow in the high altitudes of the Pyrenees this Saturday, with notable records in the regions of Cerdanya, Ripollès, Pallars Sobirà, and Vall d'Aran. According to the stations of the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (SMC), 56 centimeters were measured at Certascan, 50 centimeters at Malniu, and 42 centimeters at Bonabé. At lower altitudes, 23 centimeters in Vielha and 18 centimeters in Puigcerdà stand out.
Regarding road disruptions, the number of roads requiring mandatory chains has been reduced to half a dozen, mainly concentrated in the Lleida demarcation. Special equipment is required on the C-28 in Alt Àneu, on the LV-5052 in Vielha and Mijaran, and on the LV-5004 in Espot, among other affected routes.
Despite the general improvement, some roads remain closed. The final stretch of the Bonaigua pass is closed due to avalanche risk, and access to the BV-4024 at the Pal pass is also restricted due to strong wind and accumulated snow. On the other hand, circulation is already normal on all roads in the Girona demarcation that had been affected.
The Rural Agents (Agents Rurals) have requested caution from drivers and report that access to the Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park is restricted. Specifically, the Espot sector (in Pallars Sobirà) is completely barred to vehicle traffic.
