Teachers and educators from Conca de Barberà gathered in Montblanc's Plaça Major last Tuesday to protest their working conditions, demanding salary increases, lower ratios, and greater stability in the sector.

This action is part of broader mobilization efforts being carried out by the education sector across Catalonia, aiming to pressure the Department of Education for real improvements in working conditions.
The protest spokesperson, Montse Bosch, a teacher at the Institut Martí l'Humà in Montblanc, stated that the teaching collective feels undervalued compared to other sectors. She specifically criticized overcrowded classes, often exceeding 24 students per room, which hinders adequate specific attention.

"As a collective, we are undervalued compared to others, and within Spain, we are the ones who earn the least."

Key demands highlighted by the educators include the need for dignified working conditions, real salary improvements, and increased professional support staff, such as specialists, integrators, and educators, to address the complexity of modern classrooms.
Bosch also criticized the excessive bureaucracy and the focus often placed only on holidays, ignoring the many hours dedicated outside teaching schedules to corrections, trips, Erasmus programs, and paperwork. The collective warns that if the Department of Education does not respond, they are considering calling strikes early next year.
