Teachers from Salt, la Selva del Camp, and Sabadell denounced the critical state of the Catalan educational system this Wednesday during a general strike.

Secondary school teachers are warning of a steady decline in educational standards. Isaac Poch, a teacher at Institut Salvador Espriu in Salt, stated that many first-year ESO students cannot understand texts longer than two paragraphs.

"In the first year of ESO, I find that a large part of the students are unable to read a text of more than two paragraphs and understand it correctly."

In Sabadell, teacher Susi Moreno highlighted that high classroom complexity makes it impossible to meet educational goals. The sector demands more investment and fewer administrative burdens to restore professional dignity.
