The CCOO and UGT unions announced they will not attend the constitution of the Maresme Socioeconomic Reactivation Board this Thursday, claiming the Comarcal Council excludes them from decision-making.

The union headquarters state that the regional body intends to promote economic reactivation policies without their participation, treating them only as consultants. This decision, according to the unions, disregards the principle of social concertation.

"It makes no sense to attend the constitution of the Maresme Socioeconomic Reactivation Board if the Comarcal Council skips the concertation principle and does not treat them as main actors when finding solutions to the economic crisis."

Gonzalo Plata, general secretary of CCOO in Maresme, stressed that their representation covers almost 80% of the workers in the region, making their input essential for developing these plans.
The unions warn that all economic measures promoted with state and European funds require validation from social agents. Without an agreement, this aid, vital for the territory, could be blocked.
The Board aims to set guidelines and strategies to improve employability and productive activity in the 29 municipalities of Maresme with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants.
