The Mataró City Council has confirmed that the Popular Library, closed since January 23rd due to severe water leaks, will partially resume its services in approximately three weeks.

Current works, costing 21,732.81 euros, focus on isolating damaged areas to ensure safety. Once completed, the adult study area and lending services will be available again at the carrer d'en Palau location.
The children's area and the assembly hall will remain closed for the time being. Activities for younger users will be temporarily relocated to other libraries within the local network. The building is owned by the Fundació Iluro.
A full structural repair of the roof is planned for the last quarter of 2026. This final phase will require another temporary closure of the entire library to complete the necessary engineering works.
