The Sort City Council and the La Xicoia Gastronomic Association have launched the Facit de Carnaval 2026 season with workshops and activities to transmit the culture of this traditional Pallars Sobirà sausage.

The Facit de Carnaval is a festive sausage deeply rooted in the collective memory of Pallars Sobirà, traditionally consumed in the days leading up to Lent as a symbol of abundance and celebration.
This hearty dish is generally prepared by stuffing the pig's stomach with minced meat, diced bacon, bread, raisins, eggs, garlic, and parsley. After a long cooking process, it is sliced and eaten cold or fried.

The Facit de Carnaval is one of those dishes that tell stories. As is the case with much traditional cuisine, there is no single way to make it.

The program, organized by the Associació Gastronòmica La Xicoia with the support of the Sort City Council, includes workshops such as the one held at Cafè Pessets and another scheduled for Fat Thursday, the 12th, on Comtes de Pallars Avenue.
The season will culminate on Tuesday the 17th with the popular stew and the Facit de Carnaval Contest, taking place at 12h, also on Comtes de Pallars Avenue, aiming to recognize the best local preparations.
