The Consell Comarcal del Segrià unanimously approved a manifesto in February 2026 demanding safe and effective school transport for post-compulsory students from the Department of Education.

The initiative, approved by the Plenary Session of the Consell Comarcal del Segrià, aims to include Baccalaureate and vocational training students in the school map, ensuring they have equitable transport services, "like those for ESO students." The main goal is to guarantee equal educational opportunities and fight depopulation in the region.

"The institutional commitment is to defend this claim wherever necessary."

David Masot · President of the Consell Comarcal del Segrià
The President of the Comarcal Council, David Masot, emphasized the importance of the issue, calling it "a priority." The manifesto will be officially transferred to the Departament d’Educació and the ATM of the Lleida Area to push forward this demand.
The document states that young people in Segrià suffer "discrimination" compared to other territories in Catalunya, as many only have access to regular bus lines, which complicates mobility and family organization. They demand a service that is "safe, effective, and coordinated" with school timetables.
In addition to this measure, the Plenary also approved the manifesto of the Taula Transversal de Ruralitat (Cross-Sectional Rurality Board), which focuses on defending territorial equity and access to basic services for all residents.
