Cooperatives, producers, and private mills in the Lleida region have positively assessed the volume of visitors and the growing interest in high-quality extra virgin olive oil. This trend is reflected in demand, especially from young consumers looking for local and well-crafted products.
“"The fair is no longer just a point of sale, but a space for oil culture, where gastronomy, landscape, and solidarity are discussed."
The president of the DOP Les Garrigues, Enric Dalmau, stated that sales at this edition "are proving to be a surprise" and highlighted the increasing interest in half-liter and one-liter containers, to the detriment of the traditional two and five-liter jerrycans. Producers agreed that buyers increasingly prioritize quality and the production process over price.
The fair included cooking demonstrations and tastings with renowned chefs such as Pep Moreno (Deliranto restaurant), Ada Parellada (Semproniana restaurant), and local Lleida chefs. Furthermore, the solidarity aspect was maintained with the Sembrant solidaritat meeting and the Aplec & Oli popular snail feast, whose proceeds will be donated to the municipality of Santa Bàrbara to mitigate damages from the recent DANA storm.
Finally, the DOP Les Garrigues twinned with the IGP Torró d'Agramunt. The presidents of both entities emphasized that both seals protect products linked to the territory, reinforcing the values of quality and origin.
