The project, developed by a local company, aims to complement the services provided by the Tourist Office. The assistant, named Urgell, is designed to answer questions regarding hiking trails, mountain biking, heritage, gastronomy, and the local cultural agenda.
According to municipal sources, the system uses only data previously validated by city services to ensure reliability. If the tool cannot answer a specific query, it redirects the user to in-person support channels.
The virtual assistant is currently available in Catalan, Spanish, French, English, and German via the official tourism website. It is expected to be integrated into information screens at the city entrance and other municipal digital channels soon.
“"Urgell was born out of the need to provide answers to both tourists and citizens at any time of the day, even when the tourist office is closed."
The tool's name pays tribute to the city's giant figure, who wears the traditional attire of the Ball Cerdà, declared a National Heritage Festive Element, thereby reinforcing the municipality's cultural identity.
